Storm Warning

One of the best purchases I've ever made......definitely gonna get used real quick and a lot here these next couple of days.  First three stock photo from TNF, last one is mine from fall 09 collection which is I liked because it's different than the standard black white and gray.  It's called the plasma thermal jacket, and is way warm with prima loft rather than down.  It's waterproof, windproof, and warm; definitely worth overspending on for winters in the midwest.  Link here.

It's about time | J. Crew Shirts

Finally J. Crew is catching up with dress shirts.  Just a couple of months ago I purchased 4 dress shirts from them and had to get a large because their Mediums run 15-15.5 neck and 33 arm length.  I, as mentioned before am a 16 35". Now I'm swimming in my dress shirts because they are way too huge in the waist.

I was ready to pass up and stick with the tried and true of Brooks, Banana, and Charles Tyrwhitt, but my faith has been restored (for now).  With their new spring rollouts looks like they finally have seen the light and now have allowed us to size up ourselves with the right shirt.  I haven't tried it out yet but looking to get my hands on one to see how it fits.  Will let you know how it goes when it rolls in.

Looking forward to spring....now I have reason...

With spring comes more change than any other season; change of colors, fabrics, layers, shoes, I could go on.   Just a hint at what I'm looking at for spring, nothing to fancy just simple of course.  I like the hooded henley as  a lightweight option to the hoodie circa fall.

J. Crew really shocked me with this next one though, I haven't seen them have one of these in any years past and am real stoked about getting my hands on this one.  It's their version of the button collar popover.  Doing it like RRL and GANT. I  definitely WILL be getting my hands on this.

Gotta get at least one staple piece...

I love the color on the rest, again really has me pumped for spring.

Smart shopping 101

So when I was checking out one of J. Crew's latest catalogs I found this shirt that I liked along with the chambray hill side tie, problem is I didn't feel like dropping over $100 on it.  Well it just so happened on our trip to the NYC that I went into a gap and found this little gem for 30% off, original price $49.50. My wife is right, it does pay to look around, of course I never do so maybe just maybe I can start prying J. Crews death grip off of me haha, j/k but in all seriousness pretty happy that I found this.

(I couldn't find the pics of the J. Crew one but some of you may remember that this one is eerily similar)

Brooks really is my brother

You can never have too much gingham, just ask Brooks...

The fit on these is impeccable, fits my shoulders and waist perfect and the collar is just the icing on the cake.  I don't understand why we don't see more of this collar from J. Crew, Gap, and especially Banana.  If you're looking for the perfect fit this extra slim fit was awesome for me.  I'm 6'0" 180.  Measurements were 16" Neck 35" Arm not a bit more and not a bit less.  I personally wash and hang dry them and then iron them.  Avoids shrinkage and the dry cleaner (yes it is a lost art) beating the crap outa them.  Got em in these colors while BB was running a 2 for 100 special otherwise $79.50 a piece.

Brooks Brothers Snag

Happened to be browsing the sale section at BB, found this totally by mistake and bit the bullet.  It's actually a neon pink stripe with dark red.  Nice pop of color with a navy, or charcoal suit.

What I Wear...

The shirt, flannel, jeans, and belt are all from J. Crew.  The shoes are a Christmas gift from last year but still holding up perfectly, Clarks desert boots in beeswax leather.  The watch is a great find, for those wanting the look of the rolex but don't want to drop the money this is perfect.  It's an Invicta Pro Diver coin edge bezel.  Under $100 bones easy.  I've had it for about 2 years and no problems, wear it just about every day, of course when I'm not wearing my J. Crew Timex.
